The funny thing about my ad was the title of "Grace Bible Church of Gatesville" is actually 7 characters too long. But since I created it through this "Get More Likes" option, it will post as is. However, once I go in and edit the ad, I have to shorten it.

Unlike earlier Promote Page and Create Ad options from your Facebook page, you have more options for audience targeting in Ads Manager. First, you have your standard demographics, interests, and behavioral targeting.

If you have a product meant for a certain age, it's best to target by age. Again, this is totally dependent on your business and brand. For me, I always choose 20 & over at minimum -- because unless your product is teen-related, you might be wasting ad dollars.

Previously, the Facebook Right Column was a popular option for Facebook Like Ads, but this has now been disabled in the manual placements. It is no longer compatible with this particular marketing/ad objective.

Adding your interests and likes to your Facebook profile helps your Facebook contacts to get to know you better. Facebook also uses this information to recommend Facebook Groups and Facebook Pages that you might want to join. You can set up likes and interests information by editing your Facebook profile page.

Click the "Activities and Interests" icon in the left hand menu. Type your likes and interests into the "Interests" input field. Add as many interests and likes as you want, but separate them with a comma. Type any activities that you enjoy into the "Activities" input box. Click the blue "Save Changes" button.

Read the other sections in the left hand menu. Click the "Arts and Entertainments," "Philosophy" or "Sports" icons to access these pages and enter your likes and interests in these areas. Again, type the interest or like into the input field on each page, then click "Save Changes." Facebook will display your likes and interests in the "Info" section of your profile.

I am using the Facebook like box code in my side bar by pasting the Facebook code into a text widget. My theme is responsive, and I'd like to get the like box to resize correctly. I found this tutorial but he says the way he is doing it, isn't "fully responsive" so I didn't know if there was a better way to do it.

I was trying to do this on Drupal 7 with the " fb_likebox" module ( _likebox). To get it to be responsive. Turns out I had to write my own Contrib module Variation and stripe out the width setting option. (the default height option didn't matter for me). Once I removed the width, I added the in the fb_likebox.tpl.php.

We recently put the question to our SMT community, and we got a heap of suggestions as to how Facebook could be improved, some of which have been repeatedly suggested over time, and will likely never come about (dislike button), while others that do have some merit, and have been tested by the platform to varying degree.

"Some people have asked for a Dislike button because they want to be able to say 'That thing isn't good'. And that's not something that we think is good for the world. So we're not going to build that. I don't think there needs to be a voting mechanism about whether posts are good or bad. I don't think that's socially very valuable or good for the community to help people share the important moments in their lives."

Zuckerberg has reiterated this many times, though Meta did add Reactions to provide more post response options back in 2015, and it has also experimented with downvotes on comment replies, though not specifically as a mark of dislike.

It may be unlikely that Meta would go back and try it out again - as it did run that initial test for two and half years. But maybe, it could happen, and it could still become an option in the app one day.

Other potential Facebook feature suggestions included sorting your lists of friends and Pages you follow by location (you can sort of do this for friends by entering a location into the search element of your friends list), improved demographic targeting for ads, like job title and salary (not likely), faster video playback speed options, review certification to stop people using bad reviews due to ulterior motives, and broader account verification as a measure to weed out scammers and spammers.

If you add Facebook Like buttons to your pages and you don't like the image that Facebook has chosen to illustrate your content, you can change the Like button image. Facebook uses the Open Graph Protocol. Click here to learn more or continue reading to get started. If you've done everything properly in Shopify, try debugging on Facebook.

Note: It is likely that your theme already uses Facebook meta data code like the one above, but that it contains errors. You might need to fix your code, replacing it with the one provided above.

Facebook keeps cached content that has been liked before. If the page you are "liking" has been liked recently, you might still see the old image after you have made those edits to your theme. You can wait a couple of days or you can force Facebook to retrieve fresh content right away by using the Facebook debugger. Enter the URL of your web page there and click Debug.

In this article, we will show you how to add the Facebook like button to WordPress, as one of the easier things you can do to reach a wider audience organically. This feature can be helpful to a multitude of WordPress businesses and blogs, which is why we decided to cover it.

In this particular case, we have looked at a lot of plugins with a wide range of similar functionalities including reviewing, like, sharing, or bookmarking posts and pages as well as those that are made specifically for adding the Facebook like button. In the end, we have opted to showcase one of the latter.

The WP Like Button plugin is a very straightforward plugin for adding the Facebook like button on your website. You can choose where you wish to display the like button, including your homepage, all pages, posts, and archive pages, as well as the possibility to restrict the choice further by excluding specific URLs. It comes with four like button layouts with preview available. Finally, while users can simply add the like button using the options provided, the plugin allows for some other advanced uses such as displaying the Facebook like button in custom locations. We will cover all of this below. Let us begin.

After installing and activating the plugin, navigate to the newly created WP Like Button section in the admin dashboard. Here you can find all the plugin settings needed to display the Facebook like button on pages and posts on your website. These settings are sorted into separate subsections, which we will quickly cover.

While the option of setting a default fallback thumbnail is helpful, we chose not to use this option for the purposes of this article. Instead, we advise setting the default thumbnail and other metadata using a suitable SEO plugin. For more on this, we advise reading our article on how to set Facebook Open Graph metadata in WordPress. Having said that, let us continue with the overview of the options that the WP Like Button plugin provides.

The remaining subsections concern the creation of the like button. Firstly, you can choose whether the Facebook like button will be shown before or after the page/post content. Then, you can choose the page/post that the button will allow you to like. Specifically, you can opt that all pages and posts have their separate like buttons and like counts, or that all the links allow the visitors to like a singular URL, either your website or some other URL that you specify. Any of these options are useful and come down to personal preference. For this demonstration, we have opted to set the link to the QodeInteractive website and allow the share button as well, as you will later see.

As you can see, the plugin can be used in a very simple manner, by adjusting the settings and displaying the Facebook like button in a predefined location on pages and posts. However, the plugin offers some more advanced uses. These are the [fblike] shortcode and the fb_like_button() function. The advantage of using them is that you can insert the Facebook like button into custom locations, instead of being restricted to either before or after the content of a given page or post. However, they require a great deal of prior knowledge to be used properly. We will try to explain it below.

Of the two, using the [fblike] shortcode is slightly easier and more known to intermediate WordPress users. To display the Facebook like button in a custom location on the website, you only need to insert the [fblike] shortcode call inside a shortcode-rendering element. This element depends on the page builder you are using on your website. For Gutenberg, it is the Shortcode block, Elementor uses the Text Editor and the WPBakery uses the Text Block element, while if you are using the Classic Editor, you can simply insert the shortcode call inside the editor.

As an additional note, the flexibility of any shortcode can be further extended, as it can be included inside a Text widget. Therefore, this shortcode can be displayed in any widget area you see fit for displaying the Facebook like button. Since we have already covered how you can include shortcodes into widget areas, we suggest reading the linked article on how you can insert the [fblike] shortcode into a suitable widget area of your choice.

Finally, the plugin allows you to custom display the Facebook like button by calling the fb_like_button() function. In the past, this was mostly done by directly editing a template file. In recent years, this practice has fallen out of favor and the use of WordPress hooks has become standard. However, as this is a very advanced WordPress topic, we advise learning more on WordPress hooks, as well as what will be covered later in this article. 2ff7e9595c
